About the course
Royal Waterloo has two eighteen-hole courses and one nine-hole course. Royal Waterloo Golf Club is set in the heart of the Forest of Soignes, Europe's largest beech forest and close to the historical battlefield: The famous Battle of Waterloo took place in June 1815, where the British under Wellington defeated the French armies under Napoleon Bonaparte. "La Marache" is a hilly and well-wooded course. The second course, "Le Lion", is named after the famous hill of Waterloo which can be seen in the distance. It is laid out on American lines, open, but well defended by a seemingly unending series of bunkers. Apart from these two championship courses there is a further shorter course, the nine-hole "Bois Heros". Golfers have the choice of two particularly demanding courses on a historical site or to play a short round on the easier 9-hole course. Driving range is for members only. Courses nearby: Rigenée, Ravenstein, Bercuit.
