About the course
This course is located near the Spirit Sand Desert, one of only two deserts in Canada. At one time the land was a cattle pasture and water was pumped from underground via a windmill, which is still standing and visible from hole #9. The course has adopted the windmill as its logo. Drainage is excellent due to the sandy soil. The tree-lined fairways have gentle to extreme rolling terrain, and some of the large greens are flat, while others are undulating. A particularly difficult hole is #2, a 501-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot to a large landing area. Players are tempted to make the green in two shots but the fairway is extremely undulating and the green is long, narrow and guarded by bunkers, making it a risky shot.
