About the course
The Golf de la Largue offers a true championship course, beautifully designed and perfectly integrated into the breathtaking Alsace countryside with a lot of challenges. The golfer who comes to La Largue will be playing on a relatively new course. Opened for play in 1988. La Largue, situated in a little-known area of Alsace known as the «Sundgau», was designed by the French course architect Jean Garaļalde who made use of the natural contours, woods and water to create a course which is not only beautiful and eco-friendly but presents a real challenge to golfers of all levels. If you miss the fairway here, there is a price to pay! The round starts with a par 4. Standing on the 1st tee, you will be presented with a spectacular view which must take this one of the most enticing first holes of any golf course on the Continent. Not to be tempted to overhit your first drive: a fairway wood off the tee is probably sufficient. Crossing the bridge to the green, you will for the first time meet "La Largue", the stream that has given its name to the Golf Club, which on fine days meanders placidly across the course but after a heavy rainstorm rushes on madly and muddily. Another nice hole is the 16th with an undulating fairway which slopes fairly steeply to the right close tot the green where bunkers are ready to trap the ball. Before attempting the "tiger line" straight to the green, check the height of the rough! Finally, the 18th with its elevated tee, positively incites one to hit an all-out triumphant drive down towards the Largue river, cross with the second shot and, avoiding the many bunkers round the green, struggle uphill to finish with a birdie or par, conscious that a refreshing drink will be available immediately afterwards in the clubhouse restaurant or on the terrace. A separate 9-hole compact course is available for beginners, the renowned professional Keith Marriot and his staff run the famous Golf Academy. After play, members and guests can enjoy delicious gourmet food in the restaurant of the clubhouse which combines functionality and style on highest standard.
