About the course

This club has two regulation eighteen-hole courses, the "Parcours Trent Jones Blanc" and the "Parcours Hawtree Jaune". The Trent Jones Blanc is the only eighteen-hole course in the world to be designed half and half by Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior. This is a course where water is put to good use, both to enhance the views and to vary the difficulties. An 18-hole course on which every shot must be carefully considered, just the opposite to an extremely long course on which amateurs are soon discouraged. The "Parcours Hawtree Jaune" is now at its peak. There are numerous raised greens which are well defended by judiciously placed bunkers. In addition eleven water hazards increase the challenges on a round on this course. A large number of professional events and national championships have already been played on this course since it was first built. The 18th century style club house in the middle welcomes golfers and visitors in its comfortable interior. It provides warm and refined surroundings, the bar and restaurant are open every day except Tuesday. There is also a small lounge for meals for bridge-playing and a billiard room for indefatigable games players. The history of Golf de Bondues: The mansion was built in 1777 by Michel Aronio de Romblay, deputy Mayor of Lille, councillor at the Prefecture and heir of Genoese merchants who took up residence in Lille in the 17th century and later raised to the peerage. At that time, it was the fashion to build follies in the country; either castles or manor houses, for the city-dwelling aristocracy to spend the summer months. The mansion was always handed down by the women members of the family and was thus known as Château Aronio, Château de la Comtesse O'Mahony and then Château de la Serre. On the initiative of two industrialists who bought this property, the mansion was renovated and two golf courses were designed. One by the Englishman Martin Hawtree and one by the American star designer Robert Trent Jones Sr. At the inauguration in 1967 there were 27 holes to play. They have been improved upon since that time and Robert Trent Jones Jr. added to the original 9 holes designed by his father to create the present superb 18-hole course. There are now, therefore, two courses: the Martin Hawtree Yellow and the Trent Jones Senior and Junior White. Other attractions: Lille, a town of culture and tradition, has retained numerous buildings from the past such as the "Vieille Bourse" (the former stock exchange), which reflects both Flemish and French culture. There are also several museums; the "Hospice Comtesse", the Natural History and Geology Museum and the Fine Arts Museum, one of the richest in France. Courses nearby: Brigode.
