About the course
Luttrellstown Castle Golf & Country Club is situated within the 560acre/227 hectare walled estate of Luttrellstown Castle, only 15 minutes drive to the centre of Dublin. This 18-hole championship course is now established as one of the finest parkland facilities in Ireland. It is located on the eastern side of the estate and is bounded by mature broadleaf woods. The natural contours of the land have been cleverly exploited to maintain the integrity of this ancient landscape. The course makes it a worthy test for golfers of the highest standards. Lesser mortals will be pleased to know that medal and forward tees are more often in play. It is difficult to single out its best features, as the course offers so many. Water is a feature on six holes - most notably the 7th and 11th - where accurate tee shots determine where and how much of the hazard must be crossed. The view from the 8th tee down across the Liffey Valley and Strawberry Beds is spectacular, while the long par five 12th presents visitors with their first glimpse of the ivy-clad castle. A view of a romantic Doric temple and quaint boathouse also add to the appeal of this hole. Many players will agree that the stretch between the 12th and 15th holes is the most demanding on the course as it is here most games are won and lost. It is an exceptionally well-manicured course and is regarded as having the best putting surfaces in the country. The greens are sand-based and play throughout the winter months. For those brushing up on or improving their game, full facilities are available. Export golf tuition is also available from resident professionals. The clubhouse at Luttrellstown is quite unique. It is the largest log construction building of its type in Ireland or the United Kingdom. The finest quality Finnish pine is used throughout to create a club environment up to the highest international standards. The building is specially designed to allow sweeping vistas over the rich parklands of the Luttrellstown Castle estate and River Liffey Valley against the contours of the Dublin Mountains, visible to the south. The bright airy restaurant can seat up to 200 and serves excellent food to satisfy al tastes. There is a well-appointed bar, a large pro-shop stocked with an extensive range of high-quality merchandise and spacious, well-equipped locker rooms with saunas. Upstairs is a large conference room, along with thre syndicate rooms and bar, for hire as a conferene of banqueting venue. This par of teh clubhouse also captures exceptional views over the estate towards the Dublin Mountains and caters for groups of up to 100 people. Other amenities include: There is a choice of other leisure activities within the grounds: horse-riding, pheasant and clay-pigeon shooting of archery. Courses nearby: Hermitage, Citywest, The K Club.
