About the course
Continuing a tradition of links golf since its foundation, The Island presents a formidable challenge to test the capabilities of all golfers. The course combines traditional and modern links design. The fact that there are relatively few bunkers only adds to the magnificent splendour and solitude of this course, with its undulating fairways rolling through majestic sand dunes. Each hole presenting a totally different and often tantalising test of your shot-making abilities. The Island provides a demanding but wonderful fair test of golf, as featured in U.S. publications - 'Golf' and 'Golf Digest', also in 'Golf Monthly' and 'Golf World which lists The Island 79th in its "100 Best Golf Courses in the British Isles" - 1996. The Island hosted the Irish Ladies Championships in 1990 and has been chosen as the venue for the Irish Amateur Close Championship - 1998. The Island is situated on Corballs Peninsula just five miles north of Dublin Airport. The clubhouse provides full restaurant and bar service. Until 1973, The Island was approached by boat from nearby Malahide, where many of its founding fathers resided.
