About the course
This is one of the new generation of Irish golf courses. It has a charm and quality which make it a delight to play. The course is laid out on 130 acres/53 hectares of rolling parkland where mature trees, natural water hazards and the terrain itself have been imaginatively utilised. They make an immediate and lasting appeal. Castle Barna has a beguiling mixture of charming and seriously challenging holes. You can test your nerves and skills on the tight par 3 which skirts the Grand Canal. There are many generous fairways on this carefully balanced layout. It is a golf course which responds perfectly to the needs of handicap golfers and scratch golfers alike ... plenty of space to avoid the rough, but wayward drives can cost you dearly. Hospitality, warmth and friendliness are what characterise the club. When you come off the course the charming old-world clubhouse exudes its own welcoming atmosphere.
