About the course

Close to Rabat, the 45 holes of the Royal Dar Es-Salam Golf Club are the dream of golfers from all over the world. The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Trophy, which took place here each year, have made it a golf course with a fine international reputation. It should be said that here, Robert Trent Jones gave full rein to his imagination, laying out ravishing fairways among the cypress, palm, eucalyptus and cork-oak trees, adding luxuriant ficus, banana and papyrus plants and spreading the delicate fragrances of mimosa, roses, hyacinths, hibiscus and narcissus . . . You will even wonder if this attention to detail included programming a flight of wild duck and pink flamingos overhead . . . The Red Course: 6,702 metres/7,329 yards where Trent Jones makes all the rules. This par 73 is a veritable fortress. Scoring less than 70 is something very few professionals manage to achieve. It is vital to make an accurate drive, for the trees and the sand give very little leeway. And then there is the water . . . which makes the ninth a living legend with its 172 metres/188 yards played over the heads of the water lilies. Water is also an ever present hazard along the 481 metres/527 yards of the 12th, closing off the angles to its greens. On the other hand, it takes on the aspect of a source of beauty, a sublime mirror for a series of Roman columns which came from the ancient city of Volubilis. The Blue Course: Bushes of white daisies, beds of wild flowers, pink, orange and red, carpets of violet blooms: the fairways have a pastoral charm. The 11th, for example, a romantic and sublime par 4, hides a green nestling between clumps of eucalyptus, a bunker of red sand and a pond with a population of coots. These 18 holes are not as demanding as the Red Course. But you cannot take anything for granted - the Blue Course can still surprise you. The Green Course: Fewer surprises and a greater feeling of being at ease on this relaxing 9-hole course, consisting of only par 3 and par 4 holes wich are essentially designed to entertain. But don't let yourself be distracted by the little ox-pecker birds that will be following every stroke of your play! Golf packages are available. Other amenities include: Tennis courts, outdoor swimming pools, fitness centre, sauna, jacuzzi, body building, hairdresser.
