About the course
One of the oldest and best-known golf courses in Portugal, Estoril was the location of the Portuguese Open Championship between 1953 and 1972, and so played a pioneering role for developing golf in Portugal. Many masters of the game - including Max Faulkner and Seve Ballesteros - have walked the fairways of this course which is internationally famous for its location near the luxurious beach resort of Estoril. However, a number of alterations have been made to its original layout. The architect has made excellent use of the pine trees and eucalyptuses, which together with the uneven terrain make this course challenging in terms of accuracy rather than distance. It is a short course, only 5,238 metres/5,687 yards for a par 69, but it provides an engrossing challenge. Its hole no. 16 is internationally well-known. For less experienced golfers there are another nine holes. Experienced caddies will provide you with all the course details and pitfalls. Nor should we forget the clubhouse. On the veranda overlooking hole number 18, and with the Atlantic Ocean beyond, you will be able to taste the delights of the Portuguese cuisine. Other amenities include: Swimming pool.
