In southern Andalucia, at the western end of the Mediterranean, a dream has come true: Alcaidesa Links Golf Course is situtated on the Costa del Sol, only some 8 miles from Gibraltar and very close to Sotogrande and Valderrama Golf Courses. Alcaidesa was originally designed as a Links Course by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark. Its views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Straits of Gibraltar with the Atlas Mountains in the background are spectacular. The design and layout of the holes and fairways along the beach give you the feeling of playing a Scottish Links Course, with the difference of the wonderful subtropical climate of southern Spain. Its fairways border the beach amidst hills and natural vegetation. Whilst playing there is no way to escape the silent presence of the majestic Rock of Gibraltar and the Atlas Mountains of Africa which mark the distant horizon. Playing at Alcaidesa is a unique experience that everyone wants to repeat. Alcaidesa, as a quality golf course, has hosted four Spanish PGA Professional Competitions since opening in the summer of 1992. A second eighteen-hole course is in planning stages. After a round of golf relax in Alcaidesa's Golf Club House where, in the comfortable and friendly atmosphere of the cafeteria, you can enjoy lunch or, in the proshop, can browse through the many quality products on offer. Alcaidesa surprises you with its wealth and variety of landscapes: streams, ponds, shrubs and trees, wild flowers . . . and a beach with its clear water and find sand. A wide variety of wildlife has its home at Alcaidesa - foxes, deer, mountain goats, eagles and a multitude of bird species . . . and even tortoises (turtles). Other amenities include: Alcaidesa's own beach stretches for almost 2 kms and is ideal for all kinds of water sports, swimming pool, tennis courts. Courses nearby: Sotogrande, La Duquesa, Valderrama, San Roque.
