About the course
Forest Pines is the region's premier golfing venue. Since its opening in June 1995, Forest Pines has received a great deal of accolade from golfers of all levels. Most would agree that a combination of its skilful design and breathtaking mature woodland setting place it high on anyone's list of the best places to play in the British Isles. Here's what Golf World had to say in their final summary of the course: "Astonishing is not a word to use lightly for a new golf course, but if there is a place to use it, Forest Pines might well be it. It is astonishing not only for the beautifully routed fairways through idyllic woodland, but also the way it has all come about . . . Along with the course's setting and facilities, one of the features which the panel were clearly impressed with was the play. "Somewhat Wentworth-esque, Forest Pines is completely tree-lined and fabulously natural and fair. There are no gimmicks, no frills, just excellent what-you-see-is-what-you-get golf. Tough, perhaps but not overly so, and architect and Senior Tour Player, John Morgan, should be applauded for his skill. You could return here again and again and how you'll find a cracker that can only get better". The real quality comes in the variety and shaping of the par 4's and 5's - all memorable and calling for a variety of approaches. None are too claustrophobically tight but you will need your 'A' game to stay entirely out of trouble. The 27 holes can be played as three 18-hole combinations and all courses benefit from a mature woodland setting complemented by areas of open heathland whilst a sophisticated irrigation system ensures year round play. Supported by the Briggate Lodge Inn's extensive facilities, Forest Pines is perfect for corporate golf days, Golf packages are available. Dress requirements: no jeans, trainer, track suit tops or bottoms, collarless shirts. Tailored shorts are acceptable with knee socks or white ankle socks. Courses nearby: Doncaster, Wallham Windmill, Grimsby, Kenwick Park, Laceby Manor
