About the course
A new lease of life came in the summer of 1989 when the Club was purchased by Martin and Hermon Bond, owners of the St Mellion International Golf &Country Club. Renamed Looe Golf Club, the course and clubhouse have since benefited from many improvements designed to make life a more enjoyable one, both on and off the course. It was designed in the early 1930's by one of the great Triumvirate, Harry Vardon, whose record six winnings of the Open Championship still stand unbeaten. The 18-hole 'Downland Parkland' course commands some of the best views of the Coast, South East Cornwall and across the Tamar River towards Dartmore. The friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse together with courteous staff, will leave golfing guests with fond memories of their visit. PGA Professional, Alistair MacDonald and his wife Liz are always there to help and tuition is available. Part of the St Mellion International Group, Looe is proud to be associated with the famous St Mellion Golf and Country Club and Lanhydrock Golf Club.
