About the course
In just twenty years the Longcross and Chertsey courses are now worthy company of the established neighbours, Wentworth and Sunningdale. Only few clubs have two courses, barely a handful have courses that provide such different tests of golf. The Chertsey is for the big hitter. Someone remarked that if it was any longer the halfway house would have to offer bed & breakfast. The Longcross is only marginally shorter but since every hole is protected by mature firs and silver birches, it requires pin-point accuracy. If you want to work on your short game before the match, the nine-hole Manor course provides an excellent opportunity. In fact, some of the holes wouldn't look out of place on the Longcross. But whichever course you play and whatever your handicap, Foxhills will provide you a memorable day's golf. The clubhouse is open for a hearty breakfast and a carvery lunch. It has two bars, one upstairs overlooking both 18th greens and on the ground floor next to the billiards room, as well as three restaurants. The halfway houses provide players with the sustenenace needed to complete the round. The 45 holes at Foxhills are meticulously maintained by a team of thirteen greenkeepers. As for the golfers, they are looked after by three professionals led by PGA President and former Ryder Cup Captain, Bernard Hunt, M.B.E. Handicap certificates are not essential, but beginners are not advised to play these courses. Knowledge of the basic rules and courtesies of the game are more important than a certificate.
