Woodhall Spa is rated #17 of "The 100 Greatest Courses in the British Isles", Golf World International 11/96 and #29 of the Top 100 World Courses. Concealed in the midst of the beauty of Lincolnshire, and praised over the years by almost every golfer on both the amateur and pro circuits, Woodhall Spa is a stronghold of traditional golf club values. One thing that must be said, however, is that with all its class and acclaim Woodhall Spa does not have the pretentious airs that one usually associates with a club of such high esteem. It is a classical heathland course, with sandy soil, heather everywhere and beautiful tree-lined fairways. The most conspicuous characteristic of Woodhall Spa is its huge bunkers. It is almost impossible to praise any single hole above the rest - they are all unique. The club has become the National Centre of the English Golf Union. A new golf school of excellence has been established. A second 18-hole course will be completed in 1998. Courses nearby: Blankney Golf Club.
