About the course
|
|
Dewstow has two eighteen-hole courses, the "The Valley" and "The Park Course". The Valley Course was developed around the natural contours of the old farm meadowlands. It features many mature trees which have been supplemented with the addition of several thousands new ones. It is easy walking but provides golfers with a variety of interesting holes including the par 3, 7th which is approached over water, 50 feet/15 metres) lower than the tee! The 1st, 10th and 18th holes are all close to the clubhouse thus providing an easy start and finish to your round of golf. Serveral ponds feature on the course to provide a challenge to the golfer, but also home to an abundance of wildlife. It is not unusual to see buzzards performing slow, lazy circles in the sky over Caerwent, throughout the year. The Park Course was initially developed during 1992/1993 and follows the natural contours of the gentle Gwent hills. The river Severn and the new Severn Bridge provide starting views to many of the 18 holes. An unusual feature on the 15th fairway is a strikingly carved Totem Pole, fashioned from an old American Redwood (or Sequoia) tree. The Park Course is split by a bridge taking golfers from the 11th to the 12th hole, via Dewstow Farm with a welcome stop at 'Rustic Relief' if required! You will always find a friendly buzz of conversation in the bar at Dewstow Golf Club - one of the most magnificent clubhouses in Gwent. Other amenities include: 3 conference rooms.
