About the course
Dark Horse Golf Club is a championship eighteen hole layout designed by architect Keith Foster. This course opened for play October, 2002 and is part of the Dark Horse master planned residential community located north of Sacramento. Dark Horse Golf Club plays through the varied terrain of the Sierra foothills, including meadows, hillsides and wetlands, and the course boasts some dramatic elevation changes. The course plays from 5,180 to 7,030-yards, and Foster’s design features multiple tee boxes complimented by multiple landing areas for each tee, making Dark Horse’s design truly suitable for all skill levels. Water comes into play several times, in the form of six ponds and numerous streams, and adds to the overall nature of the course design which rewards strategic thinking, risk-taking and skilled shot-making.
