About the course
This is one of the oldest courses in the State of California. The site of the last official duel in California was held where hole #7 was built. Only members with medical concerns are allowed to use golf carts. The greens vary in size and are extremely fast. "Golf Digest" rated this course 23rd on its list of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 19th for 1997-98. "Golf Digest" also rated it the 4th "Best in State" course from 1995 through 1998. Other awards include, "GOLF Magazine's" 14th placement among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995 and 1999, and 16th for 1997. "GOLFWEEK" selected it 8th among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 14th in 1998 and 10th in 1999. This club was originally founded in 1895 and has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" recognized it in their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America."
