About the course
This challenging course was designed by architect Orrin Smith. Established in 1929, the course is constructed over hilly terrain and has changed little over the years. The greens on the front nine are quite large, averaging 7,000 square feet, while the greens on the back nine average a bit smaller at 5,000 square feet each. The club plays host to the State Amateurs Tournament. Local legend claims that Gene Sarazen once swore that if he could putt off the #4 green, he would never return to Torrington. He has since held true to his word.
