About the course
This course was constructed where the town of English, Indiana once stood. The Little Blue River flooded in 1987 and 1993 forcing many residences and businesses to flee to higher ground. The flooding left 300 acres of land uninhabited, and plans were made to convert the property into a public, daily-fee golf course. The course was constructed over the abandoned town of English, and bridges, roads, and electrical lines remained throughout the property, which allowed the back nine to be lighted. Old English Golf Course was designed by architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan. Hurdzan donated his time to this project, which is the Southern Indiana Chapter of The First Tee. The course opened May 2002, and includes a golf learning center, driving range, and practice putting green. A science education program involving the Little Blue River will also be available for The First Tee students. Old English includes an additional three-hole youth golf course. For additional information call (812) 338-3748.
