About the course
This course has a very narrow front nine and a somewhat open back nine. Many holes are tree lined, and the fairways are all bordered with a standard cut of rough. Water hazards come into play on thirteen holes. The terrain is rolling, and the huge greens are undulating and their speeds are determined by the seasonal weather conditions. The old clubhouse served as a halfway house for Al Capone and was a stop on the Underground Railroad in the mid-1800's. The signature hole is #6, a 165-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over a pond to an undulating green.
