About the course
This extraordinary, public park facility offers something for everyone. It features two regulation eighteen hole courses, plus a lovely eighteen hole par 3 Course. Even though the fairways are lined with more than 100 pine trees, they do afford generous landing areas. The greens are undulating, tiered and medium-sized. The signature hole is #14, a 424-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot from off an elevated tee, then an approach shot over water to an elevated green that is surrounded by bunkers. "GOLF Magazine" named it 78th best under the 1996 category of the "Top 100 Course You Can Play in the U.S." The Reynolds Course has narrower, more tree-lined fairways than the Championship Course, and its greens are medium-sized. There are lakes coming into play several times on both courses. Walking is permitted on the Reynolds Course, but not on the Championship Course. The Par 3 Course has water hazards coming into play at least three times. Tanglewood hosted the Senior PGA Tour's Vantage Championship in 1994. Senior discounts are available on weekdays only. The phone number for the Par 3 Course is (336) 778-6343. The scorecard for the Par 3 Course doesn't show handicaps for individual holes.
