About the course
This resort, named by "GOLF Magazine" to its 1998 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," has three outstanding eighteen hole courses. The Harbour Town Golf Links, which is home to the PGA Tour's MCI Heritage Classic, offers eighteen memorable holes that require classic and demanding shots. The fairways were built on flat terrain and are lined by pine trees. The small greens are slightly sloped and have medium speed. "GOLF Magazine" ranked this course 9th in the category of "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." for 1998, 26th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 29th on the same list for 1997 and 41st in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" chose it 24th in the category of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 16th for 1998 and 20th for 1999. "GOLF Magazine" even selected it to their 1998 list of "Top 10 PGA Courses You Can Play." The Ocean Course, which was redesigned by Mark McCumber in September, 1995, is longer in distance, and said to be tougher than the "old" Ocean Course. The Sea Marsh Course was remodeled in 1990 by architect Clyde Johnston, and it course winds through lush forest and alongside tidal marshes.
