About the course
This facility offers two eighteen hole courses, the Lakes Course and the Oaks Course. The newer Oaks Course differs from the Lakes Course in that it has much less water and trees. One of the more interesting holes on this course is #2, a 468-yard, par 4, which requires a carry over water of approximately 200 yards. To add further challenge to this hole, there is a sand bunker right behind the pond. Golfers have the option of playing it safe to the right or carrying both hazards on the fly. The original Lakes Course has generous landing areas in the fairways, but there is a thick cut of rough and some tree lines that can affect your shots. Water hazards come into play on five holes on this course. The large greens are slightly sloped and their speeds are determined by the seasonal weather conditions. This county-owned course was built on rolling terrain. It is one of five courses run by the Fairfax County Park Authority.
